Mailbag question: Younger Cornerbacks
Have UM’s starting corners been that good or has the transition from high school football to college football been a little more difficult for Christian and Talbott? Just thought we would see more of the two rookies.

Thanks for the question and sorry we didn’t get to it before several younger players played against Bowling Green.
Michigan cornerbacks have been solid against the pass.
They have done a decent job of keeping proper leverage.
Where they have had some problems is in run defense.
James Rogers in particular has given up outside / contain and has not good job squeezing. The bounce has hurt Michigan as has the alley.
Cornerbacks have to help to give the safeties a shot at making plays.
As far as the younger players we believe the coaches didn’t want to throw them out there especially with tight, close games that Michigan has had lately.
What we saw for the Bowling Green game is younger players getting a chance because we believe the coaches knew with the BG quarterback out this wasn’t going to be a close game.
It was going to be a Delaware State kind of game where everybody and their brother got playing time including a couple of fans in the stands.
One last point don’t forget Courtney Avery. GBMWolverine went a saw him twice during his senior year at Lexington and was clearly the best player on the field and wasn’t even close. He is a great athlete who seems to be getting better and better at Michigan.
