Maryland is down to two QBs

The Maryland Terrapins have seen some significant changes in the front office with the departure of former head coach Ralph Friedgen and the surprise hiring of Randy Edsall. With new top brass calling the shots, change always follows. During the spring game, Edsall boasted a new look offense and defense with numerous players playing different positions. However, with all this change, comes a reason to worry. Maryland QB Danny O’Brien, ACC Freshman of the Year, is set to take the stage as starting QB, but his listed back-up, QB Tyler Smith, decided to pack his bags and transfer. According to reports, Smith is headed to North Carolina to play for Div. 1AA Elon College. Knowing he was regulated to second-string duties and Maryland was switching to a zone read offense (a combination of running and throwing), Smith figured his services would be better suited elsewhere.
