USC quarterback Matt Barkley held a press conferenceThursday night to announce he was foregoing entering the NFL draft, instead choosing to return for his senior year of college. That collective sigh of relief from the Trojans faithful could be heard all the way to the East Coast, and I doubt no person was more relieved than head football coach Lane Kiffin.

Wednesday morning Barkley called his coach to ask him and his wife to come to his house for 5 p.m. There was no joy, no hint of which way he might be leaning in Barkley’s voice, which had Kiffin on edge for the rest of the day.
From ESPN…
