Under the guidance of Offensive Coordinator Joker Phillips, the Kentucky offense was outstanding against one of the best defenses in the country. Phillips dialed the right number time after time, as Kentucky came surging back from a 27-14 deficit late in the 3rd quarter. No call was bigger than the final play for the Kentucky offense. In the third overtime, Steve Johnson ran a slant-and-go route, and Senior quarterback Andre Woodson threw a perfect strike, releasing the ball just before he got hit by the LSU blitz. The pass was completed and Kentucky notched the biggest win in school history. For his team's terrific play, Joker Phillips is awarded the "MCS Nike Game Ball" for the National Offensive Coordinator of the Week. Each week during the 2007 college football season, the 17 Master Football Coaches will award an MCS Nike Game Ball to the respective schools of a National Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week. The Master Coaches will also present a game ball to the offensive and defensive coordinator whose game plans made the biggest impact in their respective teams' victory. In addition to Phillips, the Master Football Coaches will also award MCS Nike Game Balls to South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe, Iowa linebacker Mike Humpal, Kansas kick returner Marcus Herford, and Auburn Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp.
