Some pretty important news happened with the Cincinnati football program this weekend. The most significant of those is the announcement by Arkansas coach Bret Bielema that receiver Mekale McKay is transferring to Cincinnati. McKay was said to have problems this spring with injuries. He wasn't listed as a starter on the spring depth chart despite being Arkansas' leading returning receiver. He had 21 catches for 317 yards and 2 TDs. He had 4 games of 3 catches. His career high in yards was 74 in Arkansas' week 2 loss to Louisiana-Monroe. McKay was expected to be a breakout player this season, but he didn't seem to mix with the new regime. Their loss is Cincinnati's gain. Welcome to the Bearcat family, Mekale. A couple other notes from the weekend. Tommy Tuberville has been very deliberate on naming a starting quarterback. Everyone thinks it's going to be Brendon Kay. Except probably Munchie Legaux. He is hoping that it's going to be him. Tom Groeschen tweeted yesterday that Tuberville will be making his decision this week. It could be in the middle of the week, it could be on Saturday. Either way everyone will know who the starting quarterback for the Bearcats will be very soon. In a missed story from last week, Cincinnati is adding Northwestern transfer Eric Wilson. Wilson was a redshirt last year. He will be forced to sit out this year. He is a safety. At least he's been a safety during his football career. He'll be a welcome addition to the Bearcats squad next year. All the news this weekend wasn't good news. Tough news for Lindsay and for Kyle. Crook went down in practice last week. I'm not sure exactly what happened to Williamson. All the best for both men. Here's to a speed recovery. Mekale McKay photo via CBS via USA Today
