After losing their season opener to in-state rival Colorado State, the Colorado Buffaloes badly needed to bounce back with a win over a MAC middle of the pack team like Toledo. So of course what happened? Colorado looks outclassed, and most surprisingly out manned and was thumped by the Rockets 54-38 at the Glass Bowl.
Before the season began, Buffs coach Dan Hawkins predicted his squad would win 10 games. That prediction was odd enough when he made it, considering that Hawkins has never had a winning season since coming to Boulder, let alone come close to winning double digits. Now that his team is 0 for 2 against some pretty weak competition, it might be time for "Hawk" to take stock.
One of the more classic football coach rants of all time came from Hawkins during a recruiting press conference when addressing one of his player's concerns about the lack of down time his players got. Among other things, he screamed,
