New Fighting Illini football coach Tim Beckman is hitting the recruiting trail hard with less than a month before signing day. He is making waves in Ohio, especially at always loaded Cleveland Glenville. With two Glenville corners already heavily interested in the Illini, Beckman is also pursuing a third member of the talented Glenville secondary.
The Fighting Illini football team figures to hit the state of Ohio hard since new head coach Tim Beckman has many recruiting ties there. He has already offered several Ohio juniors, including Columbus receiver Rob Wheelwright. The talented youngster will be be heavily recruited.
The Fighting Illini basketball team struggles scoring points at times. So seeing what Joe Bertrand has done the last five games is encouraging. He has hit 34 of his last 47 shots and provided a big boost when the Illini needed it most. Whoever said Bertrand would never help the Illini ignored how a player can improve over time. And they failed to understand Bertrand.
The Fighting Illini basketball program honored its all-time winningest coach last night. Lou Henson and his wife Mary were on hand for the Ohio State game as a large banner with his name and photo was raised to the rafters to accompany the all-time best Illini players. It was fitting tribute to a much-beloved man who still bleeds Orange and Blue.

The Networkers, the booster club for the Fighting Illini volleyball team, will host the 29th Annual Networkers' Volleyball Awards Banquet on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Round Barn Banquet Center, 1990 Round Barn Road in Champaign.

Illinois senior Eric Terrazas was named the Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week Tuesday after dominating at 149 pounds and leading the Fighting Illini to a 3-0 record for the week.
