Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon says Brady Hoke is the right guy to lead college football's winningest program. Brandon told The Associated Press on Monday morning that no one was more disappointed than Hoke, his staff and players after Michigan State beat the Wolverines 29-6. The man who fired Rich Rodriguez and hired Hoke in 2011 says it was tough to watch film of the game with the coaches on Sunday. Brandon gives the Spartans a lot of credit for getting young offensive linemen out of sync and sacking Devin Gardner seven times. Michigan has fallen out of The Associated Press poll with two losses in its last three games. The Wolverines close the regular season by hosting Nebraska, playing at Northwestern and Iowa and hosting Ohio State.

Brady Hoke, Al Borges Repeating Rich Rodriguez’s Mistakes on Offense

(MGoBlog/Flickr) Two weeks. That’s how long Michigan had to prepare for its critical showdown with Michigan State. It would be hard to say with any degree of certainty, though, that the Wolverines even practiced in the days between a win over Indiana and their Saturday meltdown. Head coach Brady Hoke blamed execution issues after the game — the status quo argument he’s made...

When The Fall Is All There Is, It Matters

The 2013 season, for all intents and purposes, can be no more than simply a failure based on the standard set by Brady Hoke on his first day on the job. For Michigan Football, anything less than a Big Ten championship is unacceptable. Yet here we are, 4 weeks left to play and pretty much a zero percent chance at winning the final year of the Legends division. Michigan fans have bought...

Michigan Thumped in East Lansing, Spartans Rule 29-6

I must confess to all those that may read these words…I was a bit too distraught to post a news article summarizing the Michigan Wolverines’ performance against the Spartans in East Lansing on Saturday. I mean, I had one pretty-much written-up until the 4th quarter but just couldn’t do it. Going in, I knew there was a possibility that things wouldn’t go Blue’s way or even...

Hoke’s Message to Team: “Keep Grinding”

After Michigan’s disappointing 29-6 loss to Michigan State Brady Hoke said his team can’t dwell on the defeat. The Wolverines’ headman said the collective introspection afterward highlighted the need to continue to focus on improvement… particularly along the offensive line.

BRADY JOKE? Embarrassing loss to MSU puts further doubt in Hoke regime

Disgraceful, embarrassing, pathetic are just some of the words to describe Michigan’s 29-6 blowout loss to Little Brother Michigan State Saturday afternoon. But any adjective chosen to try to put into terms what the Wolverines did in East Lansing may be a total understatement. Michigan for the most part looked lethargic, confused and out of place on offense to the tune of -48 ...

Brady Hoke Doesn’t Think Taylor Lewan Should Be Suspended For Helmet Twist

Michigan senior offensive lineman Taylor Lewan is regarded as one of the best college football players in the country and is slated to soon be a first round NFL draft pick. But he’s also quickly gaining a reputation for being a dirty player. The video below, which shows Lewan twisting Spartans safety Isaiah Lewis’ facemask on the ground this past Saturday, isn’t doing wonders...

Hoke on Gardner’s Status, Lack of 'Execution'

Michigan coach Brady Hoke had few answers to his Wolverines struggles in Saturday’s 29-6 loss at Michigan State, citing a lack of execution. Hoke addresses the running game struggles, the offensive line, Devin Gardner’s status, and more (VIDEO included).

Commentary: Ugly In East Lansing; Uglier on Facebook and Twitter

I don’t know which was more disappointing, Michigan losing badly to Michigan State or the reactions to the loss by some fans on social media).  For those who missed it: being a sports fan is rewarding because when the team we support wins we feel good, even though we didn’t tangibly participate—but by being the team’s fan we share in their success. It’s called BIRGing...

Video: “Little Sister” Chants Cascade Down On Michigan By Michigan State Crowd

There is no love lost between Michigan and Michigan State – or their fans. Earlier this week, Wolverines head coach Brady Hoke made that clear when he said “this is not a mutual admiration society.” Running back Fitzgerald Toussaint also dropped a notable quote, telling mlive.com that “little brother always wants to prove themselves and try to beat up the big brother one...

Inexperienced offensive line problematic for Wolverines

ANN ARBOR -- For the first seven games of the season, Michigan was able to cover for its obvious problems on the offensive line. The cracks showed in nail-biting wins over Akron and Connecticut, and were exposed somewhat more in a bad quadruple-overtime loss to Penn State, but the Wolverines were still 6-1 and ranked in the Top 25. Michigan State, though, blew everything wide open...
