If you’re going to win ugly, you might as well win ugly in the Sugar Bowl. Despite racking up a measly 184 yards of total offense, Michigan defeated Virginia Tech in overtime Tuesday night to win the Sugar Bowl. Virginia Tech had 377 yards of offense and 22 first downs to Michigan’s 11. None of it mattered when kicker Brendan Gibbons banged home a 37-yard field goal in overtime to seal the win. Naturally, Virginia Tech attempted to ice Gibbons. Luckily he had been given some valuable advice from head coach Brady Hoke to help ease his mind. He thought about brunette girls, of course. With the way Michigan’s kicking game was struggling earlier in the year, they needed inspiration from somewhere.  If someone had told you back in September that Michigan would win a BCS bowl game by way of an overtime field goal, you probably would have laughed.  Along came the thought of brunette girls in bikinis and the rest is history.
