Michigan coach Brady Hoke says he's playing a lot of freshmen by design and out of necessity. Tight end Devin Funchess and linebacker Joe Bolden made the most of their opportunities in the Wolverines' 31-25 win over Air Force on Saturday. Funchess had four receptions for 106 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown. He became the first tight end to have 100-plus yards receiving since 1997 when Jerame Tuman did it against Colorado. Funchess replaced injured starter Brandon Moore. Bolden made 10 tackles after fifth-year senior Kenny Demens started the game and watched much of it from the sideline. Michigan moved up two spots to No. 17 in The Associated Press college football poll on Sunday. Upon further review, Wolverines not so bad

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- It was easy for the Michigan Wolverines to pick out the flaws in Saturday's 31-25 victory over Air Force. After all, they needed a defensive stand in the final minutes to avoid being upset by the Falcons. When they watched the films, though, they discovered something else. They had actually played pretty well at times. Offensive tackle Taylor Lewan was...

#19 Michigan 31 – Air Force 25: Michigan survives Air Force attack

Air Force was a trap game even before last week’s blowout loss to Alabama. The triple-option is not something many teams run and it is incredibly tough to defend, especially with only one week to prepare.
