The Michigan Wolverines turned a tight game into a strong victory and Brady Hoke is still undefeated at home in The Big House after 18 tries thanks to Blue’s 42-13 win today over Minnesota at Homecoming.
Devin Gardner had a nice, solid, turnover free performance as he completed a modest 13 of 17 passes for 235 yards and one touchdown passing. Gardner also scored again on the ground with a nice bootleg to the right side for a two-yard score late in the forth quarter.
The Wolverine running game collectively posted a 117-yard day and with four scores, two coming on the legs of Fitzgerald Toussaint. That is the senior’s second consecutive two touchdown performance. The freshman Derrick Green also posted his second TD scamper of the year early in the third quarter when the game was close. That score pushed the Wolverine lead to 21-7.
The Michigan Wolverine defense though struggled to contain Minnesota’s offense most of the game allowing the Gophers to win the time of possession battle 34...

Christmas came early in 2013 for my family, well at least for me that is.
You see, on March 5th when I heard the news that a fifth year of eligibility had been granted to Devin Gardner, I thanked good Ole’ Saint Nick for the number 12 jersey he brought to me wrapped in Maize and Blue paper (granted now I need a number 98 one too but I digress).
For three years I had grown frustrated...
The University of Michigan football team (4-0) plays host to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-1) this Saturday. This game opens up Big Ten play for the Wolverines, while Minnesota lost to Iowa last week in their conference opener. Let’s take a closer look at how the individual units of each team compare to each other.
For Michigan, Devin Gardner will be...
The last two games have been…rough to say the least. What has to be described as, horrible, decision making at times and a lack of discipline have been abundant . But, Big Ten play is here and every goal is still achievable for Brady Hoke’s team, so enough of the past, it’s time to get back to the present where the Little Brown Jug is at stake. This game shouldnt be much of...
Devin Gardner has turned the ball over seven times in two games, making Michigan vulnerable to being upset.
''Sometimes I try to do too much,'' the quarterback acknowledged.
Minnesota (4-1, 0-1 Big Ten) hopes to help Gardner continue the trend when it travels to play the 19th-ranked Wolverines (4-0) in their conference opener Saturday.
''I think he panics...
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Brady Hoke will sleep a lot better on this Saturday night.
His 19th-ranked Wolverines didn't look like world-beaters in a 42-13 win over Minnesota, but they were a lot better than the hapless team that had to fight hard for victories over cupcakes Akron and Connecticut.
Hoke thought that a week off after the two narrow victories was a key to Saturday'...
Michigan won its opener by half a hundred, then put on an impressive offensive display in knocking off Notre Dame in Week 2.
The 19th-ranked Wolverines' last two wins, however, have left quite a bit to be desired.
Brady Hoke is hoping a bye week gave his team ample time to fix its issues heading into Saturday's Big Ten opener against visiting Minnesota.
Hoke has had some...
The University of Minnesota football team was riding high after beginning the year 4-0 following four impressive non-conference wins. All of that momentum was seemingly squashed last weekend as Iowa rolled into Minneapolis and topped the Gophers by a 23-7 final that felt completely one-sided. Minnesota must now put that game in the rearview mirror as it gears up to face undefeated...
Despite hanging around and trailing by just seven at the half, the Gophers football team let Michigan run away in the second half as Minnesota fell 42-13 at the Big House in Ann Arbor, Mich. For the sixth time in a row, the Wolverines will keep the Little Brown Jug, awarded to the winner of this longtime rivalry. The Gophers are now 4-2 overall and 0-2 to start the Big Ten schedule...
Michigan coach Brady Hoke appeared pleased with the efforts of left guard Chris Bryant and now starting center Graham Glasgow following Saturday’s win. Hoke discusses the running game and Taylor Lewan offers his thoughts and also talks his role on the offensive line.

Two of our Michigan Football correspondents, Lucas Rains and Tyler Brochhagen will facilitate the chat from their perch in the Michigan Stadium press box.
The University of Minnesota football team lost its second trophy game in as many weeks, falling 42-13 to No. 19 Michigan. The Wolverines maintain possession of the Little Brown Jug after routing the Gophers at the Big House in Ann Arbor. While Minnesota hung close for a half to trail by just a touchdown at halftime, Michigan was too much for the Gophers in the second half as it ran...
Michigan went into Saturday’s Big Ten opener against Minnesota with a clear understanding of what they wanted to do on both sides of the ball. Several Wolverines chime in on the rushing attack, their focus during the bye week, the insertion of Chris Bryant at left guard, Brady Hoke gives a brief injury update, and interesting statistics following the 42-13 win.
When Devin's happy, I'm happy.
It seems Devin Funchess has found his role in the Michigan offense and it's not at tight end. The sophomore led all receivers with 7 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown...easily his best outing of the season. What was most impressive, other than the fact that he's a tight end playing wideout, is that on his...
