While many might be worried about junior quarterback Andrew Maxwell and his receiving corps right now, which they shouldn’t, it must also be noted that the Spartans committed 10 penalties for 90 yards in their 17-13 victory over Boise State Friday night.
Tony Lippett had a rough night against Boise State, but did finish the game with 3 catches for 62 yards.
The four turnovers by Michigan State obviously killed some big drives, but the penalties really hurt the Spartans at times as well. Michigan State’s miscues compared to Boise State’s two turnovers and three penalties for 35 yards was the reason that the Spartans didn’t run away with this game early on. With time, those errors will be fixed. Let’s disect each penalty and see how they affected the Spartans:
