When Mark Dantonio made his return to East Lansing, he brought along a staff that was commited to creating a consistent environment. The football program had been through years of inconsistency, seasons with big wins over talented opponents and head scratching loses to in-conference bottom feeders. The university had been written off as a basketball school, with a middle of the pack football team that never seemed willing to get over the hump. Dantonio and his staff have done a pretty solid job of turning things around, and the future looks even brighter. The Spartans have made a bowl game every year since 2007 (Dantonio’s first year), sporting a 44-22 record, which is the most wins in the first five years by any head coach in Michigan State history.
