WHAT'S THE NEWS

Forget Stephen Strasburg going straight to the majors. Can we get Alex White up here pronto?

White went nine innings yesterday against Arizona State, giving up just one run off seven hits and three walks, but he struck out a career high 12 hitters.

However once White went out, Arizona State unloaded and they eventually won the game. The UNC closer or whatever he was really blew it up after their outfielder dropped a ball. Second round pick Jason Kipnis was the beneficiary of that and he would score on a three-run homer. He also doubled off White in the first inning and walked in this game.

As for signings. Nothing official or unofficial yet, expect that to happen on Tuesday. The following are all expected to be signed by the end of the week though: Joe Gardner (3rd), Kyle Smith (14th, SS Cal Poly), Mike Rayl (15th), Dale Dickerson (16th), Dwight Childs (18th), and expect 19 and 20 Nick Kirk and other Kyle Smith (RHP Kent State), to sign as well.

IPI says Smith and Rayl have already signed. More on Tuesday/Wednesday when these guys are signed and where they are going for sure.

COLUMBUS

Well the Clippers lost.. Ken Ray is still pitching for this team? Jebus.

Andy Marte knocked in a run, so did Mike Brantley. Wyatt Toregas hit a two-run home run.

I mean that's the game. Kenny Ray sucked.. Frank Herrmann pitched three solid giving up one run, Rundles pitched a scoreless inning. Blargghhh!!!

AKRON

AKRON WAS WHERE THE ACTION WAS AT BABY!

The Aeros beat down Portland like the Sea Dogs they are. Just two hits for Portland and then 8 runs for themselves in this winnar..

Half of those runs came off the bat of Matt McBride, who hit his second Akron home run in as many nights, a grand slam in the first inning.

Carlos Santana and Beau Mills, the bigguns also knocked in runs, Santana had a double.

Carlos Rivero doubled as well, but he also walked three times. Strangely enough he didn't score a run.

Who was pitching on this fabulous night? Hector Rondon, but he wouldn't earn a win. Why? Rondon gave up one hit and one walk through his four innings pitched, but he left the game after four innings because he reached his pitch count. After that little scare, the Indians have placed him on a strict pitch count and he hit that after four innings yesterday.

Erik Stiller went three innings, giving up one hit and one walk as well. He would also strike out three hitters. Matt Meyer would go two scoreless, not giving up a hit, walking one and striking out one.

KINSTON

It wasn't Pedro Alvarez this time, but rather someone named Kent Sakamoto. What? Yeah.. Kent Sakamoto led Lynchburg to another smashing of Kinston.

Lonnie Chisenhall and Nate Recknagel with two runs knocked in and Ryan Blair had two hits.

Let's talk about this awful pitching though. Or at least this awesome hitting of Lynchburg.

Ya, Pirates affiliate we are talking about here.

Paolo Espino got hit hard, something he hasn't done much this year. He went four and gave up six runs on three walks and five hits.

Does Ryan Miller know how to throw strikes? He pitched one inning, gave up one hit and two runs, but he walked five hitters. FIVE Hitters! BALL... OVER... PLATE!

LAKE COUNTY

Lake County dropped yet another game to the SAL leading Lakewood team, a 9-7 loss.

Delvi Cid is pretty sweet. He knocked in four runs outta the leadoff spot with two hits, including a double. Adam White, Karexon Sanchez, and Donnie Webb all knocked in runs.

Danny Salazar got hit hard, giving up six runs off ten hits in 5.1 innings of work. Santo Frias went 2.2 innings giving up one run off three hits. Annillis Martinez gave up two runs unearned in one inning.
