Missouri Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel defended Joe Paterno in comments made during Tuesday SEC Media Day. - (Photo credit: Wikipedia) While T.J. Moe was busy entertaining the media during the first day of Mizzou's first official SEC Media Day, Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel was creating headlines of his own. While the media loved the fun-loving, confident comments of T.J. Moe, the comments made by Pinkel stirred the pot too, but in a much different way. Pinkel was asked by a group of reporters about the tragedy at Penn State and, per the comments from the Columbia Tribune, proceeded to defend Joe Paterno. "Joe Paterno’s a friend that I got to know professionally, and you can’t take away the greatness of this man. He was a great man. However you analyze this, you can’t erase all that this guy’s done. You can’t do that. Nobody can do that. I think when you come out of such a tragic situation, certainly involving children and the magnitude of this in our country from a m...

Penn State: No decision reached on Paterno statue

Penn State says no decision has been made on the future of the Joe Paterno statue outside Beaver Stadium. The university has received pressure to remove the statue of the late coach following a scathing special investigator report that found Paterno helped cover up child sex abuse allegations against former assistant Jerry Sandusky. Officials said Sunday trustees and administrators...

A Joe Paterno groom's cake? A Joe Paterno groom's cake.

Here is yet another entry for the "Bad groom's cake" department. This was one comes from Darren Rovell's twitter feed. And this one might just be the winner: A Joe Paterno groom's cake. It's hard to tell which if the worst idea here is the actual concept of a Paterno Cake. The fact it exists, or that Paterno looks like a Muppet. Luckily, this...

Paterno statue decision expected soon

Penn State's president is methodically seeking input from trustees, alumni and other constituencies about the fate of the Joe Paterno statue outside the football stadium. The monument has becoming a lightning rod since the release of an investigative report claiming the Hall of Fame football coach concealed child sex abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky more than a decade...

Joe Paterno Statue: Leave It Up As Sobering Reminder

If you have a radio or a TV you know the big dilemma is about JoePa, moreover, the conundrum his standing statue in Happy Valley, PA presents. "Leave it up," and "take it down," each have their camp. I have listened to their supporting logic. No matter where we stand, we understand both arguments. Sure, we may not agree, but we understand. After careful consideration...

Joe Paterno's statue should stay

Over the weekend, after all the sordid details had come out on Penn State, after the Freeh report had been released, and as new information emerged that continued to paint an unflattering picture of the person that was Joe Paterno, my friend Matt (Yes, this Matt. What can I say, he’s an inquisitive guy) asked me a simple question on the whole situation. That question: Should the...

The Birmingham News reports that a short line formed outside the restroom while Saban was inside with University of Alabama athletic relations coordinator Cedric Burns. Two security officials reportedly blocked the line...

Cup of Joe - Fans respond to Nittanyville

Paternoville student leaders officially announced on Monday that the organization has adopted a new name, Nittanyville. And there was much rejoicing! Or not. I wrote this morning that the decision to change the name should be worth respecting in a time when many at Penn State have failed to receive an ounce of respect in the fallout of everything that has been going on. Following...

Even though the school has stated that no long-term decision has been made related to the future of the statue of disgraced and recently deceased former Penn State football coach that is prominently displayed outside Beaver Stadium, the statue of Joe Paterno remains standing. But the fact that there is a plane reportedly circling above [...]

HOOVER, Ala. Shortly after Tigers senior receiver T.J. Moe entered a large ballroom here at the Wynfrey Hotel late Tuesday afternoon for his introduction to SEC Football Media Days, Moe surveyed the large crowd. As reporters jockeyed for position, Moe took note. "It's serious here,'' said the wide receiver. He then offered a memorable follow-up when told everything...
