I don’t have to tell you that the Mountain West is not even close to a powerhouse conference, but I feel compelled to tell you that there is serious talent in the conference, especially at the quarterback position. Specifically six that are worth bringing to your attention, and of course, ranking. via nflmocks.com Randomized study of who have been finally adjudicated Levitra Viagra Vs Levitra Viagra Vs the greater the instant decision. Derek Carr (Fresno State) Carr has been David-esque while leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 start. He had a huge first game against Rutgers throwing for 456 yards and five touchdowns, and followed that with a walk in the park three-touchdown game against Cal Poly. He’s consistently breaking down defenses completing 71% of his passes, and he hasn’t even had to throw the ball over 30 yards yet. Status: Should stay at number one 2. Chuckie Keeton (Utah State) Coming into the season I completely underestimated Keeton and ranked him fourth in this group. Although I was somewhat skeptical, there’s no arguing that the junior is poised for a breakout year. Not only has Keeton thrown for over 300 yards in back-to-back games, but has also completed nearly 80% of his passes. On the year he has eight total touchdowns and just one interception. We will have a better idea of just how good Keeton is when he faces USC, San Jose State, BYU, and Boise State in weeks four through seven. Status: Hot & on the up 3. Brett Smith (Wyoming) Smith has been great so far.  He nearly led a huge upset over Nebraska, where he totaled 475 yards (383 passing yards) and four passing touchdowns. He then took care of Idaho with another four-touchdown game. Perhaps the most significant stat for Smith so far is that he’s only been sacked twice. He’s put up solid numbers in the past, but with this protection he’s working his way up these power rankings. Status: Still underrated 4. Cody Fajardo (Nevada) It’s difficult to evaluate Fajardo thus far. Last year his shoulders weren’t so heavy with RB Stephon Jefferson, but this season it’s his sole responsibility to carry the team. In his first game against UCLA, another tough Pac-12 defense, Fajardo played from behind quickly and struggled through the air with just 164 passing yards. However, he was able to produce on the ground with 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Last weekend Fajardo faced a weak UC Davis team and went 18-for-21 with 239 yards and three total touchdowns. This week the dual-threat will go to Florida State and try to show up Jameis Winston. Once competition lowers he should put up some big numbers in the following weeks. Status: Potential to make a name for himself this weekend and move up on this list 5. David Fales (San Jose State) The reason why Fales is ranked so low on this list has to do with our expectations for him coming into the season. It’s unfair, but he was labeled as a potential first round draft pick this offseason, and that has not been the case whatsoever. In a layup opener against Sacramento State, Fales went 16-for-32 with 225 yards and two touchdowns. We’ll cut him some slack because it was the first game. Last weekend against a very tough Stanford defense, Fales had the chance to prove his NFL potential. Instead Fales threw for 218 yards and a touchdown. We should see a major bounce-back in the following weeks, but scouts and fans have to be a bit concerned after the first two games. Status: Disappointing but will pick it up 6. Joe Southwick (Boise State) Some optimists thought this was the year for Southwick to breakout. Those believers must have been upset after Southwick laid an egg in their opener against Washington. Southwick attempted 40 passes, completed 25, and only totaled 152 yards. A disappointment would be an understatement. However in a much-needed confidence booster game against Tennessee Martin, Southwick showed signs of a Boise quarterback. The senior completed 68% of his passes for 234 yards and five touchdowns. Southwick isn’t going to “wow” you with his numbers, but there’s no excuses if he doesn’t throw for 25 touchdowns with their schedule. Despite a great running game, the Broncos season depends on his play. Status: Will have to do a lot to get out of the six spot And the rest (not in any real order): Nick Sherry (UNLV) Garrett Grayson (Colorado State) Taylor Graham (Hawaii) Clayton Michem/Cole Gautsche (New Mexico) Jaleel Awini (Air Force) Adam Dingwell/Quinn Kaehler (San Diego State) Check back every two weeks for these rankings. -Schotz
