All Mets fans are aware that star third baseman David Wright has a reputation for coming up small in big spots. Not that two games changes that rap, but for the second straight night Wright has been Mr clutch for the Mets.
Okay, so maybe this picture has little to do with baseball, but the man is clutch!
Last night Wright smacked a three run double to tie the game in the seventh. Wright had four RBI's on the night in the Mets 8-6 win. This coming on the heels of his four stolen base night along with the game winning hit from Thursday tells me Wright is heating up-----just in time to with the absense of Carlos Delgado from the Mets lineup.
Early on, with the Mets trailing 5-1 against the Giants ace, Tim Lincecum, I thought we were in for a long night. However, David Wright and the Mets had other plans----the Mets are now 20-15, in first place and playing like a first place club.
Prior to the start of their ten day West Coast swing I would have been happy with a 5-5 result. Now, with the Mets having won the first two, and with Johan Santana on the mound today, I expect more.
By the way, Santana will be faced by Randy Johnson, but this is not the Randy Johnson of 2000, this guy is like 87 years old----point is, how about finally giving Johan some much deserved run support!!!!
