When Kliff Kingsbury was hired as the head coach at Texas Tech this past winter, it was lauded as both a steal for the school and a win for young bros looking for a big break everywhere. After all, it’s not often that a school takes a chance in giving a plush head coaching job to any 33-year-old, let alone one that walks around with the swag of your average 30-something at happy hour every Friday night.

Still, questions did remain about Kingsbury’s hire, specifically on whether or not he was able to discipline a group of football players that were barely older than he was.

Only apparently on Tuesday we got an answer to the question of: “What happens when a bro stops being polite and starts getting real?” And we got it in the most hilarious way possible.

Above is a note Kingsbury left for all his players, as they get set to leave campus for the rest of May. It comes via the Twitter feed of Texas Tech offensive lineman Alfredo Morales, and well, it’s awesome.

It reads as follows:

*Also we advise you to be active over break as you will need to be ready to work once June rolls around. Sitting at the house playing COD/2K13/Madden against 12 year olds online doesn’t suffice as “activity” even if you claim to “wreck shop.”

While we’re not sure what “wreck shop” means, what we are sure of is that this note is that this may be the single coolest thing that has happened this off-season.

Still, what we’re more curious to know is whether this warning applies to the 33-year-old coach in addition to his 20-something year old players.

After all, doesn’t Kliff Kingsbury just look like the kind of guy that loves a good game of “Call of Duty” every now and again?

Report: Aldridge not impressed with Lakers' branding pitch

Gone are the days when the Los Angeles Lakers were perennial contenders for an NBA championship, producing a product that essentially sold itself to free agents. Now, the Lakers have to work to convince players that the franchise can turn things around. They were apparently unable to do that with LaMarcus Aldridge. On Wednesday, Mike...Read More

Toronto column after trade details Kessel's love of hot dogs

Is it too late to nominate a late entry to the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eat contest this weekend? Because Phil Kessel seems like a worthy contender. The polarizing forward was traded Wednesday from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Pittsburgh Penguins in what was the biggest move of one of the NHL’s busiest days of the year. Thus ends Kessel’s contentious time in Toronto where he and...

A-Rod, Yankees, union in talks to donate HR bonus to charity

As Alex Rodriguez neared the milestone of 660 career homers earlier this season, the otherwise significant accomplishment — the New York Yankees slugger’s tainted history notwithstanding — was marred with the news that A-Rod and the team were at odds over the disbursement of a $6 million marketing bonus he was due for it. The...Read More The post A-Rod, Yankees, union in negotiations...

Kobe responds to Aldridge report with funny meme

Kobe Bryant has now gone five years without winning an NBA championship. Before that, Bryant went a solid seven years without tasting the sweet flavor of holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy. One pitch away: Carrasco loses no-hitter in bottom of the 9th

One. Pitch. That’s how close Indians righthander Carlos Carrasco was to no-hitting the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field Wednesday night. WFNY will have a full game recap tomorrow morning, but here’s the quick and dirty of what happened. England loses World Cup semifinal to Japan in heartbreaking fashion

There are few feelings more deflating in the game of soccer than allowing an own goal. Sending the ball into your own net in the semifinal of World Cup action is one example of a more painful, disastrous moment. In the 92nd minute of a 1-1 tie against defending champion Japan, England defender Laura Bassett attempted to clear a well-placed cross, but her ill-fated deflection...
