National Signing Day has become bigger and bigger as the media evolves to serve the recruiting needs of dedicated college football fans. FOX Sports, CBS Sports, and Yahoo! Sports all go all-out on National Signing Day with various shows and coverage. ESPN has taken matters to an entirely new level and treat National Signing Day like it’s the NFL draft. ESPNU schedules TV announcements for top recruits, and they have cameras in the “war room” to monitor the reactions of coaches expecting to receive a signed letter of intent from players. Ole Miss was the big winner on National Signing Day this year. They pulled in what many felt was the top recruiting class in the country and were featured prominently throughout the day Wednesday on ESPNU. Their coaches were shown celebrating each time a recruit chose to sign with them. But did you realize that the reactions from the coaches shown on TV were actually staged? Out of respect to the coaches, many recruits notify schools of their decision before they make their televised announcement. Such was the case for Ole Miss, which received signed letters of intent from some recruits in advance. Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples had an outstanding article that explains how Ole Miss assembled the top class in the country. In the article, he mentions that Ole Miss received a faxed letter of intent from OL Laremy Tunsil at 9:00 a.m. ET Wednesday — the first moment players could send in their signed letters. Tunsil’s announcement wasn’t until 30 minutes later on TV, which means that although the Ole Miss coaches were elated, their reactions were not of genuine surprise. Here’s how it looked on TV: The post Ole Miss coaches had to fake reactions for TV cameras on National Signing Day appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. RUMORS & GOSSIP

NFL may be very close to returning to Los Angeles

We already know that St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke seems to be willing to do anything to move his team back to Southern California. And while there are still a ton of hurdles left in the way of a possible relocation to Los Angeles, there are some around the National Football League who are quietly applauding Kroenke’s efforts. These efforts include a plan to build a state...

Report: Kobe definitely returning next season

This embed is invalid   " /> Kobe Bryant isn’t about to spend his final days in the NBA on the injured list. The Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday that Bryant would undergo surgery this week on his torn rotator cuff, almost certainly sidelining him for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. If that is indeed the case, this would be the third consecutive...

Report: Yankees don't want to pay A-Rod home run bonuses

The current relationship between Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees seems contentious, to say the least. For further proof of that, we have the Yankees reportedly looking to get out of paying A-Rod some bonus money. In addition to the roughly $20 million per season Rodriguez is owed over the next three years, he...Read More

Brandon Browner is putting all friendships aside for the Super Bowl and will encourage his teammates to do anything possible to win, even if it means crossing some unethical lines. Report: NFL has potential video evidence with Deflategate

Deflategate won’t be dying down anytime soon. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports is reporting that the NFL claims to have a video of a Patriots locker room attendant taking balls from the officials’ locker room into another area of the team’s facility before bringing them onto the field for the AFC Championship Game. “Sources tell...Read More

Report: Rams, other teams interested in Nick Foles

To say that the St. Louis Rams need to find a long-term solution at quarterback would be a major understatement. This is a team that has been held back by that position ever since Marc Bulger started regressing in 2007. Since then, it’s been former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford that has led an uninspiring performance for a Rams team that is 21 games under .500. So it shouldn’t...

Tom Brady: 'My feelings got hurt' in Deflategate controversy

Tom Brady might have it all — dream job, dream wife, oodles and oodles of money — but he’s a human being just like everyone else.   That means the New England Patriots quarterback gets sad from time to time, and that apparently was the case this past week. Brady was at the center of the seemingly never-ending saga that is DeflateGate, and No. 12 took it hard. Brady discussed...
