Avert your eyes, Florida fans. If you cannot handle the thought of the most popular player in Gator history sleeping with the enemy, do not read any further. You have been warned.

Tim Tebow is now a big Ohio State fan. Considering his close relationship with Urban Meyer, this should not come as a surprise. That doesn’t mean it will be easy for Florida fans to hear, many of whom despise the Buckeyes and believe Meyer is a traitor for coaching them.

“I was pretty nervous,” Tebow told The Plain Dealer Friday while explaining how he was tracking the Ohio State-Purdue game before a Jets flight. “We were literally taking off as they were about to score and then go for the two-point conversion, so I didn’t know until we landed that they won. So it was pretty cool. And I guess as hard as it is for me to say, I am a pretty big fan now of The Ohio State University.”

It may not be nearly as bad as if Tebow became a fan of, say, Florida State or Georgia, but it has to sting Gator Nation a tad. Meyer said he is hoping Tebow will have some time to work out with his new star quarterback Braxton Miller in the offseason, so it could get even more painful if Tebow indirectly helps Ohio State improve.

The bottom line is Tebow and Meyer are like father and son. There’s a reason we heard rumors like this one when Meyer stepped down from Florida, even if they never came to fruition. If Meyer became the next coach at Georgia, Tebow would likely become a Bulldogs fan. Fortunately for Florida fans, that will almost certainly never happen.

  • Tim and Urban had a real good releationship while at Florida, and for the glory years there, I am sure Tim feels a lot for Urban.
So why does the media, just zero Tim out and try to be so negative about every damn thing he does? Evidently Larry Brown Sports has nothing better to do. Enough is enough of trying to put down Tebow. He is a class act and his personal releationship with God has everyone trying to destroy him, find anything wrong they possibly can. Remember those who attack Tebow, he is a child of God and you will answer for that one day.
  • You looking for an email bride on a sports page, fjiurwwe? And then you tell everyone about your fishing hole before you caught a fish?
I think I see why you keep coming up short.
  • THAT IS A LOT OF BULL, FED BY BRAIN WASHERS.
  • Tebow and Meyer should shoot for a spring wedding. And the discussion about Tebow "helping" another quarterback, when he's not good enough to start anywhere himself? The writers following this sideshow ought to come out of the closet and get a life.
  • Would that make your lifestyle seem more acceptable? Would news like that make you feel better about your own shortcomings?
    Yep- thought so.
  • Grow up, JohnMConley, I heard this kind of "you're so gay" cr@p aaalllllll the time in junior high school. It was obnoxious then, it's just plain nauseating coming from an adult.
  • Dear Media - Please stop complaining about Tebow being an overrated media sensation, and then report about what he had for breakfast, who his friends are, and his hat size. Why isnt Nick Foles, or Kyle Orton getting this kind of coverage? As in politics, please stop creating the drama you condem!
  • What trivial garbage this article is. Tebow is heck of a great guy and when he does get time to play on a regular basis he will be very good.....Running him in and out for a couple plays will never mature a quarterback. Just put him in there and go with him full time. Remember Chuck Knoll the coach of the Steelers finally did that with Bradshaw and he blossomed big time.
  • Oh yeah, that's a great comparison, Tebow-Bradshaw.
Bradshaw was a real QB, worth bringing along. Tebow does not possess the needed talent. Tebow might have a chance of staying in the NFL if they convert him to fullback, say. Every expert agrees, Tebow can not, and will not, succeed as an NFL level QB.
  • The reason Meyer "retired" from UF was not health reasons, its because Tebow was going and Meyer knew they were going to suck !
  • So, when do they start sucking????
  • And when does the sucking start????
  • And do we hate Steve Spurrier 'cause he coaches at South Carolina? I don't think so. Tim can like and cheer for whomever he wants t, but cheering against the Gators if they play OSU? I doubt seriously if that would happen, but so what?
  • Timmy will always be a GATOR fan first! Like me he couldn't be anything else! I was born august,18,1949,2:18 a.m. alaucha general hospital,Gainsville FLORIDA! I was born a GATOR,nuf said!
  • This is character assassination. Tim Tebow like most College players have a strong bond with their coaches. What this article is trying to do is driving a wedge between Tebow and Floridians. Its meant to benefit those who wish for Tebow to play somewhere else. This is media manipulation at its worst.

Sixth-ranked Ohio State looks for tenth victory

No. 8 Florida on 1st down: run, run, run

There are plenty of adjectives to describe Florida's offense, which ranks 100th in the nation and managed just three field goals in a costly loss to rival Georgia last week. The best one might be predictable. The eighth-ranked Gators are running the ball on 78.1 percent of their first downs, the highest of any team in a Bowl Championship Series conference. Army, New Mexico...

Flu bug hits Florida

No one showed up to the Florida Gator – Missouri Tiger game

The Florida Gators are taking on the Missouri Tigers today for their final SEC game of the season. They only way they can win the SEC East is if they beat Mizzou Tigers and if Georgia loses to either Ole Miss or Auburn. Apparently a 7 and 1 start for the Florida Gators isn’t good enough for the student section. It was never this bad under the Ron Zook era which was not a good era...

Brady on Mankins: 'Nobody stood for Patriot football more'

As they gear up for the regular season, NFL teams often make tough decisions that aren’t always popular among teammates and fans. Count the Logan Mankins trade among those decisions. The New England Patriots surprised many last week by trading the Pro Bowl offensive lineman to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in return for tight end Tim Wright and a 2015 fourth-round draft pick. After...
