Big 10 sites were crowing about their schools offering multiyear scholarships to this year's recruits, yesterday. Now we find that, at least, two SEC schools have joined a new wave.
Auburn coach Gene Chizik told reporters that he offered one-year renewable scholarships but an Auburn athletic department spokesman said all that Auburn sent four-year agreements to new recruits.
Multi-year scholarships could still be revoked for ineligibility, gross misconduct, fraudulent misrepresentation or voluntarily leaving a sport. Also, a scholarship could be cancelled for non-athletic reasons, such as a player's class attendance record or not following team rules, Big Ten Associate Commissioner Chad Hawley said.
