Butch Davis out at UNC

Change is coming in Chapel Hill because Butch Davis caught the gauntlet today from the University of North Carolina. The school released a statement after its Board of Trustees met and decided Davis’ fate. Chancellor Holden Thorp says the decision was not prompted by any changes in the ongoing NCAA investigation into possible improper benefits and academic misconduct in the football program. Rather, Thorp says he “lost confidence in our ability to come through this without harming the way people think of this institution.” SOURCE Basically, the tarnishing of the program is not acceptable and the man had to go. Coaches usually take the fall in situations like this (see Jim Tressel), BUT coaching is a fraternity of sorts so another job is just around the bend.
