In today’s world of social media and news now type outlets; it didn’t take long before rumors to confirm fan’s suspicions of who the next defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the Iowa Hawkeyes could be.
With the retirement of long time defensive coordinator Norm Parker, the Hawkeyes had an opening that many thought was taking a very long time fill. The longer it took, the more people realized that the hire was not coming from within and that the delay was because their next defensive coordinator could be from the New York Giants staff. As everyone is well aware of, the Giants won the Super Bowl and hiring anyone from their staff that would have to wait their season was over.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have named their new defensive coordinator and have promoted Phil Parker.
Parker has been a member of Kirk Ferentz’s staff since he became the head coach at Iowa 13 seasons ago. He was the secondary coach, and now takes over as the defensive coordinator for Norm Parker (no relation), who retired at the end of the season.
