Arizona State’s quarterback decision has been made and Dennis Erickson didn’t even need an hour-long special to make the announcement.
He didn’t even need 30 seconds.
Calling it a “good decision to have to make,” Erickson announced that Steven Threet will start at quarterback this Saturday in the Sun Devils’ season opener against Portland State.
“He was the most consistent throughout our fall camp,” Erickson says. “He’s very competitive, he’s very smart and he understands the game.”
The more significant announcement, to me, was that Brock Osweiler, who will go into the season as the backup for the second consecutive year, will definitely get playing time in the opener.
“Steven was happy. Brock was disappointed. But all both want to do is win football games,” Erickson says.
