Today’s AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl , kicking off at 5:00 pm EST (tv coverage on ESPN2), pins two 7 and 5 teams as North Carolina and Missouri take the field, but that is not the only similarity between the opponents in this match up. For the Tigers it is their last game in the Big 12, as they head into the SEC next year to be part of their 14 team conference. The Tar Heels are also in the middle of a conference re-alignment, as the ACC is bringing in Syracuse and Pittsburgh, however for this squad it’s the last game for their interim head coach, Everett Withers, who will join the staff at Ohio State. Both teams are not new at going to bowl games, as Mizzou is at its seventh straight and UNC is at its fourth appearance in a row. Sadly, while for Missouri it’s going to be up to them whether or not they make it back to another bowl next season, for UNC the streak is all but over as the NCAA ruling will most likely ban them from post season play. Most insane INT you'll see this bowl season

During the Independence Bowl, an insane catch was made by a Mizzou Tiger Cornerback. The ball actually landed on the back of the UNC Tarheel Wide Receiver and stayed there motionless until another Tiger player was able to snag it. I challenge you to find a better interception than that.

College Basketball Rankings - MRI 2011-12, Week 5

For some schools, it just takes time. Everyone knew that North Carolina was good. The Tar Heels showed that in flashes during the early season. But it took until Christmas before they truly found themselves. North Carolina destroyed Nicholls State (which is to be expected) and then dismantled Texas to the tune of 20 points. That is why the Tar Heels have vaulted to No...

UNC Rolls Over likes this Intercepted Pass

In probably the last bowl game the North Carolina Tar Heels play for a few seasons, they decided to begin their punishment today. Who knew a college football team filled with NFL talent and no head coach for a...

Football. Walston: That Was Strange

That was strange. The 2011 Advocare V-100 Independence Bowl didn't go well for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Spurred by a streak of 31 straight points, Missouri rolled over Carolina for a 41-24 win. But the game itself was just the capper on a set of unusual circumstances.
