Get The Picture:
Once upon a time, Mark Richt could joke about Georgia’s special teams’ troubles:
After Georgia struggled on kickoffs yet again, Richt joked that he might have to scour Europe in hopes of finding a kicker with a strong enough leg to help Georgia win some field-position battles.
“We might have to go to Poland or something to find a guy who can kick it out of the end zone,” Richt said. “We’ll give him two scholarships.”
The humor seems to be gone these days, though.
“I’ve been kind of putting my list together,” Richt said. “Certainly we’ve got to get some better answers in our special teams. It doesn’t necessarily mean changing any coaches on what they do or all that kind of thing, but I’m going to make that a point of emphasis for myself and for our staff and give them carte blanche to take trips or we may be bringing people in to really solidify what we’re doing and be certain that we’re doing the right things schematically and technically.”

The chatter around a potential move for Malcolm 'Tampa' Mitchell seems to be reaching a lukewarm pitch as Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com is reporting that the true freshman sensation could possibly take some reps at defensive back as well as wide receiver in the near future.
Head coach Mark Richt said he wouldn't be opposed to giving a shot to
No season in recent history should speak louder and better for Mark Richt than 2011.
It was a year in which his Georgia Bulldogs opened the season putting 16 first-time starters on the field, including four true freshmen, against Kellen Moore and No. 5 Boise State.
That was quite a roll of the dice coming off a 6-7 season, the first year in which he won fewer than eight games...
'Twas the day after Christmas...
And Mark Richt is in the returns and exchange line, trying to exchange Alabama for Missouri on Georgia's 2012 schedule. Wait, that schedule is finally out? (The Ledger-Enquirer)
Up in the Air.
Nope, the SEC 2012 schedule still isn't out. But there are some tidbits that have been leaked, or at least speculated on. (Saturday Down South...
Another rumor, that is.
… There was another reason for Richt to be in a good mood: The Bulldogs are close to full strength, avoiding any academic casualties.
Last year, three Georgia players, including tailback Caleb King, were academically ineligible for the Liberty Bowl. This time around, Richt reported that everyone had made it academically.“Those guys have done well,” Richt...
Gerald Robinson scored 22 points and fellow guard Dustin Ware 20 points, and they hit clutch free throws and field goals to lead Georgia over Winthrop 92-86 in overtime Tuesday night.
Winthrop (4-9) led the final 2 1/2 minutes of regulation, but after Ware's 3-pointer with 9.6 seconds to go, Robinson went coast-to-coast for a layup with 2.4 seconds remaining to tie the game...
I can’t really argue with Chris Low’s season report card for Georgia. Especially this:
… The Bulldogs wore down in the second half against LSU in the SEC championship game, but held the Tigers without a first down in the first half. Georgia’s defense deserved a lot better in that game.

The Georgia Bulldogs will attack Michigan State from a pro-style offense attack with a base out of the I-formation. In this set they’ll use two receivers, one tight end along with a fullback and tailback. Here is a look at the key skill players expected to start against Michigan State in the Outback Bowl.
Aaron Murray and Mark Richt from the first day of bowl practice:
Nothing particularly earth shattering there, but there does seem to be a sense that they’re in a better place than they were a year ago. (Duh.)
By the way, you can get an idea of why Richt was complaining (“A lot of windows over there too, you know…”) about all the buildings overlooking the practice field...
