Crystal Ball Run:
Notre Dame football can’t help but be polarizing. College football does this to normal, rational people. Notre Dame football makes it worse.
In the immediate aftermath of Notre Dame’s thrilling 29-26 win in triple overtime over Pittsburgh, public commentary ran the full spectrum, from “overrated” to “overachieving”. Mark May saw blood; Lou Holtz saw guts and glory. Regardless, the victory by the Irish was a less-than-impressive follow-up to a dominant 17-point road win over Oklahoma. But every contender must endure a few scares, and Notre Dame remains very much in the thick of the BCS conversation.
With inexperience in key spots, mainly the quarterback and secondary positions, Notre Dame has proven that it can be prone to a let-down or look-ahead type of game -- the Irish nearly lost two weeks ago to a below-average BYU squad. Saturday’s contest against Pitt had all the makings of a similar situation. In reality, the story is not that the Irish found themselves so close to d...

Everyone loves a good fairy tale. So here's one from Notre Dame Saturday, against a blue November sky . . .
With the Irish in trouble, a wise and patient Notre Dame coach, Brian Kelly, benched his quarterback, Everett Golson, with a lesson in mind. Later, he put his QB back in for the toughest part of the game, and Golson courageously saved the day.
Another Notre Dame miracle...
Notre Dame’s near upset at the hands of Pittsburgh helped NBC to a season-high overnight rating on Saturday. The Pittsburgh/Notre Dame college football game drew a 4.3 overnight rating on NBC Saturday afternoon, up 207% from the network’s sixth Notre Dame telecast last year, against Maryland in primetime (1.4), and up 187% from the sixth telecast in 2010, against Tulsa (1.5)...
Ruining Notre Dame's 1993 and 2002 seasons are what this rivalry is known for, but there are a few other games that make me smile when I think back to BC vs Notre Dame. When we were rattling off wins in the 2000s there was a great Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner aspect to the series. The Irish fans were sure this was the year that they would finally put BC in its place. And every...
If you happen to think that you're a hardcore Notre Dame fan, then you have to re-asses your fandom based on this story.
Earlier in the week, Fighting Irish super fan Tracey Moore decided to get Notre Dame's famous "Golden Dome" tattooed on the back of his head.
The tattoo itself took nearly nine hours to complete at the Michiana Tattoo Emporium in Niles,...
On a day they were outplayed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish found a way to win. The Irish were trying to avoid an upset at the hands of a Pittsburgh Panther team and keep their National Championship hopes alive.
They did just that defeating Pittsburgh in the third overtime of tough fought game. Everett Golson was able to sneak into the end zone giving Notre Dame a 29-26 victory. The...
One name that has been repeatedly mentioned as a potential Spaz replacement is Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator Bob Diaco. BC will get a first hand look at the candidate this week. I like Diaco and think has many of the qualities we should look for in a new coach.Relentless RecruiterWe can debate the quality of our current roster but our ability to land key recruits is embarrassing...
As predicted, BC will host Notre Dame at night. Brad Bates broke the news via twitter. The game will be shown nationally at 8 PM on ABC. BC will be heavy underdogs but I am still hoping for some BC-Notre Dame magic. I don't think ESPN would mind some magic too.
One down, one to go for Oregon.
The Ducks moved up a spot and
passed Notre Dame in the BCS standings on Sunday, moving into third
place behind Alabama and Kansas State.
Oregon is coming off its biggest
victory of the season, winning 62-51 at Southern California on Saturday
night. That result, combined with Notre Dame's overtime victory against a
Here is the weekly installment of Notre Dame’s Trick Shot Monday … Boston College week. Trick Shot Monday began as a locker room tradition, but it has also made appearances in other locations around the Gug – the auditorium, the players’ lounge, even Coach Kelly’s office. In recent installments, the header has become a go-to shot. The post Notre Dame’s Trick Shot Monday...
Since the Discover Fan Loyalty Poll launched back in September, college football fans have been in agreement that the Alabama Crimson Tide were the best team in the country. In fact, it was the fans who knew that the Tide were better than teams such as the USC Trojans even before the AP Top 25 and the BCS Standings fell in line. While some of the other teams have fallen in and out...

Here's the open thread y'all. Not sure how much I'll be on this one today. Doing some traveling and may wreck the car watching it on my phone. You know me well enough to know that this is 99.9% true.
One down, one to go for Oregon.
Notre Dame's record remained perfect Saturday after a performance that was anything but.
