Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly is determined to see to it that his Fighting Irish play in the BCS National Championship Game if they finish the regular season undefeated. His team currently ranks third in the BCS standings behind fellow unbeatens Oregon and Kansas State and thus, sits on the outside looking in for a chance to play for the title. Kelly told SiriusXM College Sports Nation that he plans to go on the campaign trail if the current playoff picture holds true, even threatening to make an appearance on The Oprah Show to state his case. There is only one problem with that plan, The Oprah Show no longer exists! From Kelly:“I’m just not good enough to be able to do both. I’m challenged enough on a day-to-day basis to keep my guys focused on Wake Forest. The rest of the stuff, let’s see how Notre Dame does. Let’s take Wake Forest, see what happens there, and then USC. Then, if we get to the point after USC that we’re undefeated, I’ll go on Oprah if I have to. Maybe I’ll come back on Sirius.“But for right now, quite honestly, I’m just going to worry about winning football games.”Oprah's reign as the longest-running daytime talk show on television ended in May, 2011 after 25 years and 4,561 compelling episodes. I'm guessing Kelly wasn't one of the many million viewers to tune in to the finale though.Nonetheless, Kelly may be looking for a platform pretty soon. But for now he'll have to settle on winning people over from the gridiron.Via NBC Sports.
