Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o added three national awards to his trophy case Thursday, including two for national player of the year.Te’o won the Maxwell Award for the nation’s most outstanding player, the Walter Camp national player of the year award, and the Bednarik Award, given to the most outstanding defensive player, on Thursday night. The Walter Camp award, announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation before the College Football Awards show, is voted on by the 124 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. The 46th recipient of the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, Te’o is the third defensive player to earn the honor. Former Pittsburgh defensive end Hugh Green (1980) and Michigan defensive back Charles Woodson (1997) each won the award.
