While trying to get out of the funk from today's loss which wasn't helped by tonight's Phillies win, giving them a four game sweep of the Brewers, I tried to look at the positive things that came form this weekend's series....Sandwiched between the two bullpen meltdown losses, that weren't helped by lack of clutch hitting was a masterful performance by Jon Niese. I thought after the game one loss with Johan on the mound the youngster in his second start would feel the pressure and struggle as he did against the Brewers but Niese threw a great game. Niese pitched 8 shut-out innings allowing 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. His fastball was average but the curve was nasty and he used it several times for strike three, earning him the Fever nickname Captain Hook.....The Star Ledger reported that despite the loss the dugout was in good spirits, mostly do to a celebration over minor league awards.
