((HT: OnwardState.com)) In a letter obtained by Kevin Horne at Onward State, the Paterno family has officially not yet learned to leave well enough alone... The family is filing their own appeal with the NCAA... The HQ has no idea what they think they're going to attempt to accomplish over something that the university that employed their father has already signed off on. The appeal is on the grounds that Joe Paterno is an “involved individual” mentioned in the consent decree and the Freeh Report. The family is asking for 30 days to write material to back up their assertion. From the letter itself: As will become evident in a thorough and impartial review, the NCAA acted hastily and without any regard for due process. Furthermore, the NCAA and Penn State’s Board Chair and President entirely ignored the fact that the Freeh Report, on which these extraordinary penalties are based, is deeply flawed because it is incomplete, rife with unsupported opinions and unqu...

The Paterno Family is at it again, filing appeal to NCAA

Well, we almost got out of the week without hearing from the Paterno family. Oh so close, but oh so far. This time the Paterno family is formally going after the NCAA. According to Onward State, lawyers representing the Paterno family sent an official appeal letter to the NCAA offices responding to the sanctions handed to Penn State's football program last week. The appeal...

President Obama on Penn State’s Punishment

“Does the punishment fit the crime?” Ricordati asked. “I think it does,” Obama said. “I have been a big admirer of Penn State football, obviously Joe Paterno was a great football coach. But there are some things that are just more important than sports, and making sure our kids are safe is more important than sports. “And I think it was appropriate to send that message...

Penn State Football: Life after transfers

The big question on all Penn State football fans minds following player transfers this past week in wake of NCAA sanction is simple: what next? What next in the Nittany Lions’ backfield, where 1,200 yard rusher Silas Redd is gone and off to Southern California. Also on offense, quarterback Rob Bolden left for LSU and tight end Kevin Haplea bolted to Florida State. On defense,...

Scouting report on new Sooner WR Justin Brown

The rumored transfer of Penn State refugee Justin Brown to Oklahoma became official Saturday, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. Brown was the Nittany Lions' top receiver a year ago, which on its face, sounds a lot like a "tallest midget" kind of thing if you know anything about PSU's offense. I asked my buddy and Penn St. expert Kevin McGuire of Nittany...

Would Bill O’Brien be recruiting Penn State players if he were at another school? ‘Hell no!’

Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien has been relatively mum on the idea that some of his players could be looking for greener pastures. But now that seven players have decided to transfer and Lane Kiffin and that Mercedes jet has lured Silas Redd away, O’Brien can no longer hold his peace. In an interview with the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, O’Brien gave his thoughts on opposing...

PennLive Penn State RB Curtis Dukes tells The Fizz he is staying in Happy Valley, and will not join Syracuse. Last night, after things had cooled down over the last 48 hours on the possible transfer front, Dukes confirmed to us via text that none his potential landing schools followed up, and that he will remain a Nittany Lion for his final two years of eligibility. “I’m just...

Fans are being encouraged to wear blue, while donations will be collected around Beaver Stadium for the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. Students are organizing Blue Out activities. The first such...

A Brief And Obvious Point For Penn State Football Fans

Going to CA for your career? TRAITOR!The young men who came to play football for your school are not, in fact, doing so out of a deep and abiding wonder of being your personal puppets, or out of a need to join the vast tapestry of the team's history.Nor did they, in all likelihood, dream of wearing your laundry as the final point of their football playing life, with no regard...

Suddenly, Jerry Sandusky Is Explaining How Justice Works

Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive coach who at the very least showered with young boys, touched their legs in the showers because he’s just like Forrest Gump and ended a bunch of creepy voice mail messages with “there’s nothing really to hide” and “I love you”, thinks it’s “unjust” for PSU to be fined and punished simply because he molested boys there...

#26 Auburn Tigers: College Football 77 in 77

What did we just learn from Joe Paterno? Erecting a statue for someone while they’re still alive and their legacy is not yet fully formed is risky business. And sometimes backfires. There’s already a Cam Newton statue at Auburn. Again, something scandalous could arise, especially given Newton’s past history. The Bo Jackson statue I’m cool with; his career is long over. As...
