Fox Sports West:
Welcome to Signing Day 2012.
If you thought 2011 was crazy with everyone standing by on "Mamba Watch," in anticipation of where then-Crenshaw running back De'Anthony Thomas would end up, Oaks Christian wide receiver Jordan Payton pulled a hat out of a hat out of a hat on Wednesday morning.
A day after announcing on national television that he would be attending Washington, he has reportedly signed with UCLA.
Payton was a long-time USC commit up until last June, due in part, to the Trojans 15 scholarship limit.
His recruitment was then wide open.
Earlier this month, at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Payton announced he would be going to Cal. He was the a part of a mass exodus that included UCLA signee, Monrovia defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy --a top five player in the country --and the top safety in the country Shaq Thompson, after defensive line coach and super recruiter Tosh Lupoi left the Golden Bears to join Steve Sarkisian's staff at Washington.
Monday night via Twitter, Thompson announced he was heading to Washington. Tuesday, Payton announced, he too, would be a Husky.
For Payton, that has apparently changed.
He'll now join a top-15 recruiting class with the Bruins that includes signees: quarterback Devin Fuller (New Jersey), Vista Murrieta defensive end Jeremy Castro and linebacker Nate Iese (Sacramento).
This all happened before noon.
Payton will join his teammate Ishmael Adams, who's also a UCLA commit. Former Oaks Christian Lions on the Bruins roster inclued DT Cassius Marsh and RB Malcolm Jones.
What was your toughest decision at 18? Today's high school football players are deciding where they'll hopefully spend the next four years of their life on a national forum.
With that comes indecision.
