With the season opener just 6 days away, Penn State has finally released an official depth chart. There are a few nuggets of very interesting information, but in all, it doesn’t tell us much that we didn’t already know, and it certainly doesn’t shed much light on the as-yet unsettled quarterback competition.
Nuggets:
At QB, it still seems to be a three-man race, listing the starter as Matt McGloin OR Kevin Newsome OR Robert Bolden.
Devon Smith is listed as the #1 receiver in the slot. Brett Brackett is listed as a backup to Graham Zug. Behind Smith at the “R” is Shawney Kersey.
Curtis Dukes is the #3 running back. No Silas Redd, whose battling a knee injury.
There’s no mention of Andrew Sczcerba, still battling a back injury. Redshirt freshman Garry Gilliam is your presumptive week one starter, with true freshman Kevin Haplea listed at #2.
