Fox Sports Florida:
TALLAHASSEE Kevin Haplea has left Penn State and will transfer to Florida State, where the junior tight end can play immediately due to an NCAA ruling that allows Nittany Lions football players to leave State College without taking a redshirt.
Haplea told Lions247.com that he felt comfortable with FSU and the coaching staff.
"I was presented with some great situations at FSU and decided that Florida State was an opportunity that I could not pass up, Haplea told Lions247.com. I have nothing but respect for Coach O'Brien, the entire support staff, all the great fans and especially all the players. I wish nothing but the best of luck to them in the future."
Last season, Haplea had three catches for 40 yards and caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Matt McGloin in the fourth quarter of a 13-3 win over Iowa.
A native of Annandale, N.J., Haplea will now have two seasons to play at FSU, which was one of a number of schools that offered him a scholarship when he was in high school.
Haplea will be a junior in the fall and will compete for playing time along with starting tight end Nick OLeary and reserves Dan Hicks and Will Tye. FSU also landed four-star prospect Christo Kourtzidis in February.

Junior linebacker Khairi Fortt (ky-REE Fort) has decided to become the latest Penn State player to transfer to a Pac-12 school.
Fortt signed a scholarship agreement with California on Wednesday. He has 50 tackles in the last two seasons and ended Penn State's spring practice as the co-starter at middle linebacker on the depth chart.
In light of the sanctions from the Jerry...
Silas Redd (@MomentOfSilas25) has reportedly deleted his twitter account. This can’t be a good sign for Penn State, as it now looks like he is USC bound. After all, the RB would probably want to avoid looking at his mentions at all cost after announcing a transfer.
Thanks to “The Herd” for the tip this morning.
Penn State top reserve linebacker Khairi Fortt is heading to California, the latest Nittany Lion to transfer in the wake of tough NCAA sanctions against the program.
The junior says in a statement Wednesday issued through his father, Guy Fortt, that he loved Cal when he visited when being recruited in high school from Connecticut. He said he would miss Penn State.
Fortt is the...
It’s never going to end…. never. I mean we’ve went from everything from playing on the movie ‘Ted’ with Sandusky to this… It’s never going to end.. I will also say – Jerry Sandusky is lucky he’s being segregated from other inmates.
Special thanks to TerezOwens for producing this….
Penn State trustees will meet this weekend to consider whether to ratify the school's consent decree with the NCAA that imposed penalties for how the university handled the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

Penn State offensive lineman John Urschel was one of the Lions representatives during Big Ten Media Days. Here he talks with FOXSports NEXT reporter Beth Long about the event and the past few trying weeks.
Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive coach who at the very least showered with young boys, touched their legs in the showers because he’s just like Forrest Gump and ended a bunch of creepy voice mail messages with “there’s nothing really to hide” and “I love you”, thinks it’s “unjust” for PSU to be fined and punished simply because he molested boys there...
This is the kind of shirt that you could only wear in State College. Like, if you you wear that shirt anywhere else, you are the stereotypical Penn Stater, who is blindly supporting your school for all the wrong reasons. But if you are wearing that at Penn State, it’s funny.
Way too obnoxious for me, no matter where you wear it. But I’m not a flashy kind of guy. I shy away from...
