Thanks to yet another strong performance on Saturday, the 5-1 Pitt Panthers sit at #17 in the initial BCS rankings. The Panthers are also #17 in the AP poll, up from #23 a week ago. And the hot seat gets a little cooler under Dave Wannstedt.Someone must've spiked the Panthers' Wannstedt-flavored Kool-Aid with offensive consistency, because they were scoring often in Saturday's 42-21 romp against the Naval Academy. Pitt scored five touchdowns in the first half alone and would have probably scored six if not for a Bill Stull interception deep in Navy territory that was returned 91 yards to set up a Navy touchdown. Shady McCoy led the way with 156 yards and three touchdowns on just 18 carries for an average of almost nine yards per carry. He's run for 447 yards and five touchdowns in his last three games.
