TEAMS: LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama football team practiced again on Tuesday in preparation for the #1 LSU Tigers. The full pads practice was the second official practice for the Bengal Tigers.
Here's what you need to know:
Anthony Steen split time with Alfred McCullough at right guard during the media viewing period. Steen didn't participate much on Monday, so it's a good sign that he was able to split time on Tuesday.
Eddie Lacy was still doing a lot of watching, though he has been cleared for contact. Eddie hasn't done much during the media viewing period for the last four weeks.
As I said yesterday, don't expect the staff to tip their hand on whether or not these guys are going to play on Saturday. My guess is that they both will play, though. If Steen is healthy enough to split first team reps, then he's likely healthy enough to give it a shot. Lacy is a Louisiana kid, and this game has special meaning for him.
Alex Watkins continued to practice out of a black jersey, though the cast on his arm was a little bigger on Tuesday. My guess is that the medical staff is experimenting to try to find the protective device that makes him the most comfortable while still providing the necessary protection.
Otherwise, it was more of the same. The Tide continues to be very focused and low key.
The same can't be said for the media, though. The onslaught has officially begun. ESPN did an All-Access style piece with Erin Andrews for Sportscenter on Tuesday, and a similar piece will air on the Tide on Wednesday's show.
When ESPN is spending this much time promoting a game that will be on CBS, you pretty much get the picture.
The Tide will practice again on Wednesday, and even though there likely won't be much to see, we will have our normal report.
