A former University of Miami football player accused of raping a girl on campus avoided jail time after he agreed to a plea deal on Tuesday. Jeffrey Brown, 19, will serve three years' probation as part of the deal, which reduces the original charge of sexual battery to false imprisonment, his attorney said. Authorities said Brown, a redshirt freshman defensive tackle from Illinois, had sexually assaulted the victim back in April while she was drunk and sleeping. Brown denied the allegations when he was confronted but then admitted to having sex with the woman after detectives caught him sending text messages to a friend to get rid of his underwear, police said. According to the police report, the victim allegedly knocked on Brown's dorm room to use his bathroom. After throwing up in Browns bathroom, she passed out on his bathroom floor and the 6'3, 295 pound athlete escorted the woman back to her friends house.
