After some huffing and puffing (including from myself), it appears that the allegations against Robert Marve’s involvement with a booster from the University of Miami may mean nothing to his current eligibility with Purdue. Purdue issued a statement today that Robert Marve has no “eligibility issues” and that “there are no issues with Purdue” in connection to the mess in Miami. While this statement may not be the punctuation mark on this issue, it is certainly a very, very good sign for the future of Marve (and Purdue). Could the NCAA continue investigations and make a decision that Marve is ineligible? I suppose. But I do not think Purdue would move forward and issue this statement unless it was extremely confident that there would be no eligibility problems that could put Purdue’s entire football program in a position where games could have to be forfeited.
