MADISON - They are eight words that Wisconsin fans are anxious to hear and put some clarity to the level of interest former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien has with the University of Wisconsin. "Yes, I will be visiting this coming weekend," said O'Brien in a message to Badger Nation. The 6-3, 215-pound quarterback formally a three-star QB ranked No.58 in the 2009 recruiting class by Scout.com probably wouldn't be the kind of quick fix former N.C. State quarterback Russell Wilson was for the Badgers last season, but he'll certainly be in the mix considering the quarterback position is the biggest question mark heading into the start of spring practices on Saturday. With the graduation of Wilson and injuries to current UW quarterbacks Jon Budmayr (arm), Bart Houston (shoulder) and Curt Phillips (knee), the Badgers will go through spring ball with only two healthy quarterbacks - redshirt sophomore Joe Brennan and redshirt freshman Joel Stave who don't have any collegiate starting experience. Inexperience is not one word to describe O'Brien. Named the ACC rookie of the year and a freshman All-American after passing for 2,438 yards, with 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions, O'Brien went 7-3 as a starter in 2010 and had an efficiency rating of 134.5 in the Terps' pro-style offense. O'Brien took a step back last season as he struggled under the spread offense instituted by new head coach Randy Edsall and offensive coordinator Gary Crowton, who was fired after the Terps finished 2-10. O'Brien completed just 56.4 percent of his passes for 1,648 yards seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His season ended when he suffered a broken bone in his non-throwing arm on Nov. 12 in a loss to Notre Dame. He proclaimed himself 100 percent recover and his career numbers are 342 of 603 (56.7 percent) for 4,086 yards and 29 touchdowns with 18 interceptions certainly provide an attractive option. After he graduates from Maryland, O'Brien will have two years of eligibility remaining and can transfer to any school after being granted his full release. FightOnState.com reported O'Brien visited Penn State last weekend and Bruce Felman of CBSSports.com is visiting Ole Miss Monday afternoon. It's not publically known if O'Brien is taking more visits before or after Wisconsin.

Spring Football - Wide Receivers

Wide outs were an integral part of the Wisconsin offense in 2011. Even with Montee Ball pounding the rock for a record setting 39 touchdowns, WRs came up with big plays in big games, as well as a few big errors (see Abbrederis Rose Bowl fumble). While Russell Wilson was at the helm, receivers saw production not often witnessed on the Camp Randall gridiron. Nick Toon, UWs star receiver...

Why is Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor Still Underrated?

Why is Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor Still Underrated? He’s not the flashiest point guard in the country but he may be the most effective. Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor is the most underrated point guard in the country. Opposing coaches sure know all too well about Mr. Taylor. In a tight game against Vanderbilt, it was Taylor’s steady hand that led the Badgers into the Sweet 16...

Extra effort pays off for Evans at Wisconsin

Ryan Evans did something unexpected last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. He got off to a fast start. Wisconsins junior forward hit his first four shots to spark the Badgers to an early lead in a 73-49 win over Montana in their opening game of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday at The Pit. He followed that up by hitting his first four shots Saturday against Vanderbilt to reach double...

Badgers' Ryan appreciates overachieving club

MADISON, Wis. Bo Ryan tries to remain insulated from peripheral discussion about his Wisconsin basketball team, but he's perceptive enough to understand the pulse of a fan base. When the season began in October, the Badgers' coach heard from folks who thought this year's team might stink like a pigpen. So what, they said, if Wisconsin was ranked No. 15 in the preseason...

Spring Football - Linebackers

Wisconsin fans finally got their wish - to see Mike Taylor and Chris Borland on the field at the same time all season long this past year and boy was it magical.  The two were enough to make the Badgers LB group the best in the Big Ten last year, but this is a new season and gone is Kevin Claxton due to graduation.  There's also a change in the coaching of this position as...

Videos: Badgers Headed Back to the Sweet 16

Wow, what a great opening weekend. The Badgers advance to the Sweet 16 in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. Here's a factoid for you - only 3 other teams (Louisville, NC State, and Ohio) in the Sweet 16 beat a higher seeded team than the Badgers (#5 Vandy) to get to the second weekend. UW earned its spot. Let's get on to some video fun with Mike Lucas...

Audio: Badgers Talk Syracuse, Sweet 16

Fresh off its first practice preparing for top-seed Syracuse, Wisconsin's two seniors, Jordan Taylor and Rob Wilson, along with junior guard Josh Gasser and sophomore guard Ben Brust address the media about the challenges the Orange bring.

Better than Expected

Making his fourth campus visit in the last few weeks, Hermitage (VA) four-star running back Derrick Green walked away from the University of Wisconsin - after talking with Montee Ball and Russell Wilson - impressed with what the Badgers have to offer.
