For West Virginia football head coach Dana Holgorsen, this decision could mean everything.
Holgorsen and coaching staff will need to make the call on who will step in and take over the role of quarterback now that sensation Geno Smith is off to the NFL.
It is no easy task, but it must be done.
The likely candidates are redshirt freshman Ford Childress and junior Paul Millard.
Last year, Smith would have the majority of the 1st-team reps during spring practice. This year, both Millard and Childress have split the amount of reps 50/50.
Last Thursday, Holgorsen announced a tentative depth chart. To no surprise, he is no closer to naming a starter now than he was a few weeks ago.
This Saturday is the annual Gold-Blue Spring Game and both Childress and Millard will get the opportunity to show what they can do on the gridiron. Mountaineer Nation will get a chance to see a bit more of the two from a skills standpoint.
Both guys have acknowledged their pride in the competition...
