In all, the off season was as good as it gets for a young, developing team on a small budget. Those good feelings seemed tarnished a bit on Wednesday when the Rays announced that 23 year old phenom, David Price was sent to triple-A to begin the season. News of Price’s demotion was met with the typical criticism of the Rays trying to save money. While it would be naïve to think that money isn’t a factor, the move is wise on many levels. It is just one more example of how well run the Rays organization has become under Andrew Friedman.
