From the AP: “A few days after Alabama won the 2013 national championship, a University of Texas regent and a former regent talked with Nick Saban’s agent about the possibility of the Crimson Tide coach replacing Longhorns coach Mack Brown,The Associated Press has learned.
Regent Wallace Hall of Dallas told the AP he spoke by telephone with agent Jimmy Sexton a few days after the Jan. 7 game.
Two days after the call with Sexton, Tom Hicks met with Brown over lunch and told him about the call, according to several people who spoke with the AP. He asked Brown if he was ready to retire.”

Regents from the University of Texas and Nick Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, have reportedly spoken about the Texas Longhorns head coaching position.
On the morning drive to work, sport’s talk show host Paul Finebaum was still on the subject. The fact that University of Texas fans continue to think its a possibility that Nick Saban would consider to replace Mack Brown.
The Associated Press reported on Thursday that a current and former Texas regent contacted Nick Saban’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, in January about the concept.
Back in 2010, Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and Texas HC Mack Brown filmed a commercial for EPSN College GameDay. The two coaches has earlier in the year faced each other when Alabama beat Texas for its first BCS title under Saban.
This commercial is ironic as reports circulate that Saban was targeted to replace Brown at Texas as early as January.
