The school won’t make it official yet, but word is that Penn State is ready to take down the Joe Paterno statue, and it could happen as early as this weekend. PSU trustees have not confirmed as of yet, but here’s the word via NBC’s Pro Football Talk
Multiple reports Friday morning from former ESPN/CBS reporter Bonnie Bernstein and the NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones say that the statue will be coming down this weekend. Bernstein adds that the school’s Board of Trustees voted to take down the statue during a conference call Thursday night…Penn State Board member Capt. Ryan McCombie added ”We did no such thing” to Laura Nichols of Statecollege.com.
A grassroots organization dedicated on keeping the statue in place has sprung up; in response to a small plane flying over State College on Tuesday brandishing a banner that said “take down the statue or we will.”
Who “we” are remains a mystery.

Here is yet another entry for the "Bad groom's cake" department. This was one comes from Darren Rovell's twitter feed. And this one might just be the winner: A Joe Paterno groom's cake.
It's hard to tell which if the worst idea here is the actual concept of a Paterno Cake. The fact it exists, or that Paterno looks like a Muppet. Luckily, this...
The Joe Paterno statue came down today, and tomorrow Penn State will learn about the reported “unprecedented” penalties coming down from the NCAA. The buzz on Twitter suggests it won’t include the death penalty, and that Penn State will not appeal the ruling, suggesting that perhaps a deal has been struck behind closed doors.
All of this is moving quickly, but meanwhile SPORTSbyBROOKS...

No matter where we stand, we understand both arguments. Sure, we may not agree, but we understand. After careful consideration...

Earlier today, we at Crystal Ball Run wrote on Penn State’s official decision to take down Joe Paterno’s statue on campus. Now, we may know what was behind the timing of the decision, as well as the haste with which the statue was brought down.
The reason? Well, according to a report by CBS News, the NCAA has called a press conference for early Monday morning, where they will...
DETROIT -- It's time for Penn State to step up.
The national debate has been whether the NCAA should give the Nittany Lions the death penalty in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky cover-up, or if it should be the Big Ten that swings the hammer.
Neither one of them should get involved. This isn't about recruiting violations or athletes getting illegal benefits. That's where...
