The New York Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates on the strength of their 44 year old, 28 million dollar man. Roger Clemens pitched six innings, struck out seven, and allowed three runs as the Yankees cruised to a 9-3 win -- their season high fifth win in a row. Clemens retired the final seven batters he faced and the crowd of 54,296 gave the right-hander a standing ovation as he walked off the field. With his second strikeout in the top of the 1st inning Clemens passed Randy Johnson for second all-time in strikeouts. Johnson had passed Clemens just days before.
