As the head coach of one of the worst college football programs in the country, you would think Eastern Michigan head coach Ron English would be willing to accept recruits of all shapes and sizes. Well, he doesn't. In a July 31 story published by the Detroit News, English was quoted as saying, "We wanted guys that had a father in their background. A guy that's raised by his mom all the time, and please don't take me wrong, but the reality is that you've got to teach that guy how to be taught by a man." Don't take him the wrong way. To paraphrase, he isn't interested in recruiting kids who have been raised without a father. To take him the wrong way would be to send him your highlight tape if were raised solely by your mother, aunt or grandmother.
