David Fales threw four touchdown passes, including a 14-yarder to Chandler Jones with 50 seconds left, to lift San Jose St. to a wild 38-34 win over San Diego St. on Saturday night.
The lead was tied once and changed hands four times in the final quarter.
Fales threw three of his TD passes in the fourth quarter as San Jose St. (3-1) overcame a 24-17 deficit.
Fales also threw touchdown passes of 1 yard to Ina Liaina and a 21-yarder to Noel Grigsby early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24. Tyler Ervin returned a kickoff 97 yards for a Spartans touchdown in the first half.
For San Diego St., Adam Muema ran for a career-high 202 yards, including an 83-yard TD in the first half. Walter Kazee added 90 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
