The term “shutdown corner” is defined as follows: any player with the ability to shut down an entire side of a football field for fear of the havoc he’ll wreak on the opposing offense—or something like that. It’s a term used sparingly, as few guys have truly enveloped the ability, but it is one that could see itself being reborn of one of the SEC’s newest player additions is able to transfer his indispensable talents to his new league. That player’s name is E.J. Gaines and he plays for the University of Missouri—Mizzou. Gaines, is a 5’10″, 190-pound, cornerback whose stellar play last season landed him on the Big 12′s first team after completing the year with 69 tackles, two interceptions, and 16 pass breakups—for those keeping count, that’s more than any player in the SEC last season..
