Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas only stands 5’9″ 213 lbs, so he needed to have a good combine in order to make an impression. Thomas put up 28 reps on the bench and then got ready for his 40-yard-dash. Thomas was extremely fast running a 4.38 forty, but caught his toe in the turf when he was leaning on to get to the finish line. He was moving so quickly that he had no time to react and face planted. I’m sure his friends and the other guys will give him a hard time about face-planting, but he’ll probably say it was totally worth it to put a 4.38.
Definitely not as bad as Vic Ballard’s from last year.

Shamarko Thomas is a strong safety out of Syracuse who turned some heads with an impressive 4.38 40-yard dash time Tuesday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. At 213 pounds, that’s freakish. He turned even more heads after taking this nasty tumble (courtesy of SBNation).
Shamarko Thomas finished his college career with the Syracuse Orange last season. He started all 13 games at safety, led the team with 88 tackles, and earned First Team All-Big East honors as a senior. On Tuesday, Thomas tried his hand at impressing NFL scouts and coaches by participating in the 40-yard dash. The diminuitive Thomas clocked in at 4.38 in the forty before the turf monster...
One of the 2013 NFL Draft prospects that have been turning head is Syracuse strong safety Shamarko Thomas after running a 4.38 40-yard-dash at the NFL Combine.

Former Syracuse strong safety Shamarko Thomas gave it his all (including his face) at the NFL Combine today during his 40 yard dash. Thomas’ first attempt ended with an unofficial time of 4.38 and an epic face plant.
Don’t feel bad for Thomas because he still posted the fastest 40 time among all defensive backs and complete 28 reps on the 225lb bench press, also leading all...
Former Syracuse star safety Shamarko Thomas had a great 2013 NFL Combine performance, but he will be remembered for this tumble after the 40-yard dash.
Who among us has not suffered a Shamarko Thomas moment in life? Taking a header at the end of a 40-yard dash in the NFL Combine (or tripping on one's gown on the way to the stage at the Oscars) is life's way of reminding us we are human---and ultimately fallible,
But Thomas survives...and will prevail in the NFL Draft.
As Frank Perdue of gamedayr.com reminds us,...
The Syracuse Orange are not usually known for their great football players, but just one year after the Patriots drafted Chandler Jones in the first round another Orange player is set to go in the first round after a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine. Shamarko Thomas showed of [...]
For all those hardcore basketball fans out there, there is a whole lot of speculation on how the Syracuse men’s basketball team is going to fare and if whether they are going to make it to the Final Four. Before we look at some key points on what it’s going to take to make it to Atlanta, remember you can participate in all the action and excitement from your end by placing a...
It’s not time to hit the panic button yet for Syracuse fans, but it’s getting dangerously close. SU dropped its second straight game in a matter of 48 hours on Monday, matching Saturday’s excruciating lose to the Hoyas with an ugly second half collapse against Marquette, 74-71. The Orange hasn’t been able to close out a competitive game down the stretch in over a month...
Typically, when a team is down 7 with 53 seconds to go in a game, the idea is to get a quick basket. If it happens to be a three-point shot, so be it. But score quickly and then play defense or get a quick foul. The Syracuse Orange attempted another approach, just keep shooting threes until one went down. They put that onus on their star player, James Southerland. Yeesh. The end...
The coaching moves of Jim Boeheim were questioned by the media following Syracuse's second straight loss, a 74-71 decision to Marquette.
Syracuse has announced plans to finalize designs and begin construction on a brand-new, state-of-the-art indoor football practice center. But there’s one catch. It’s not all funded yet.
Here’s Darryl Gross:
“We’re looking for people to get involved.”
Should Orange Nation avoid counting its indoor chickens before they hatch?
“We will be seeking generous support of the...
Almost two weeks after Jim Boeheim called a reporter an 'idiot' in
his post-game press conference, the longtime Syracuse coach got on
another diatribe following Monday's loss to Marquette.
