Shane Vereen RB California
Ht: 5’10″
Wt: 210
Strengths:
Small compact build makes him tough to bring down. Impressive speed; plays faster than his timed speed. Excellent quickness; has the agility to make guys miss in the open field. A shifty runner who does a great job finding holes in tight spaces. Excellent receiver. Experience as a return specialist.
Weaknesses:
Doesn’t play like an every-down NFL running back; prefers to take everything to the outside. Not a physical runner. Limited experience running between the tackles due to Cal’s offensive scheme. Only one full year as a starter.
Comments:
Vereen doesn’t project as a starter at the next level, but he could be a valuable change-of-pace back. His speed, quickness and ability as a receiver makes him a potentially dangerous weapon in certain situations. His upside is limited, but in the right system he could be a valuable situational player.
