Notre Dame senior Evan Sharpley was selected on the third day of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Sharpley was selected in the 50th round, pick #1493 overall, by the Seattle Mariners. Irish signee Charlie Markson was also taken on day three of the draft. The outfielder from Whitefish Bay, Wisc. was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 44th round with pick #1320 overall.
